Obituary for David R. Varg

David R. Varg, 59, of Auburn formerly of Exeter, New Hampshire, died Sunday, December 2, 2012 with his loving family by his side in UMass Memorial Medical Center- Memorial Campus after a long illness with Picks Disease.

He was born in Worcester and raised in Auburn son of the late Roland Varg. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1971. He later attended UMass-Amherst; Wachusett Community College; St. Anselm College in NH and graduated from Worcester State College in 1978.

David moved to New Hampshire and lived in Exeter, for 15 years, where he was very active in that community. He was an actor performing in local theaters; he performed, sang and wrote music, specializing in the Barbershop sound and belonged to The Gateway Guardsmen, The Worcester Men of Song and his own quartet, The Coolest Guys. He enjoyed writing; he completed his memoirs and several books of poetry. David also specialized in cartooning, he was also a lover of animals and rescued and adopted many greyhounds.

He worked for over 20 years for Lucent Technologies, specializing in Communications and Electronics and retired due to illness as a Circuit Board Engineer.

David leaves his devoted and loving family, his mother, Virginia S. (Carpenter) Varg of Auburn; a sister, Jacquelyne M. Walsh and her husband, Vincent of Boylston; a niece, Tonya Pisinski of Amherst, NH; a nephew, Torr LaJeunesse of Worcester; grandnieces and grandnephews, Alexis, Cameron, Olivia, Joshua and Owen David; also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins and his loyal greyhound, BamBam.

He was a longtime member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Auburn. When David lived in New Hampshire, he was a member of The Congregational Church of Exeter, where he sang in its choir and was involved with its sound system and website.

David’s family wishes to thank all of his caregivers at the Blair House where David had lived the past three years of his life.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with David’s family on Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 12-1 PM in Bethel Lutheran Church, Bryn Mawr Avenue, Auburn. A service celebrating David life will follow at 1 PM. Burial will take place at a later date in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
