Obituary for Robert D "Bob" O'Connor

Robert D "Bob" O'Connor
Robert D. “Bob” O’Connor, 70, of Northborough, died Sunday, May 10, 2015 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, with his love and life partner, Judith “Judi” Boyko at his side.
He leaves Judi, with whom he lived in Northborough, MA; nieces and nephews, Paul Keough of Woburn, Patricia Druid of Reading, William Keough of Wilmington and Frances Keough of Reading. He was predeceased by a brother, John “Jack” O’Connor and a sister, Elaine (O’Connor) Keough.
Bob was born and raised in Arlington, MA, son of the late John L. and Frances M. (Pike) O’Connor. He graduated from Arlington High School and from Bowdoin College with a degree in business. Bob was in the sales and sales consulting business for many years.
Bob was a “people person;” his outgoing personality, gift of gab, and love of a good time made him many friends throughout his life. These attributes also made him successful as a sales representative, having loyal business associates and clients who worked closely with him over many years.
Some of Bob’s greatest pleasures included keeping up with all things related to aviation; following the Boston Red Sox each season; and spending time with all of the Golden Retrievers who have shared his home: Tess, Shamus, Molly, Paco and Murray. Bob volunteered with Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue and was a supporter of the Tufts Veterinary School and its clinic at the Worcester Technical High School.
Some of Bob’s fondest memories were of travel he made to the OshKosh AirVenture event in Wisconsin; vacations with Judi, the love of his life, to Bermuda and Italy; and family visits to California, Oregon, and Texas. He “lived for” summer, when he could spend time on his porch and work in his yard.
Bob’s strong spirit and sense of humor were with him to the end of his life. He will be remembered by many who will greatly miss him.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bob’s family to honor and remember him on Friday. May 15, 2015 from 4-7 PM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or memorial donations can be made to Natick Visiting Nurse Association Inc. 209 West Central St, Suite 313, Natick, MA 01760 or to Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue, 110 Chapin Rd, Hudson, MA 01749.
