Obituary for Leif Nordahl
Leif Nordahl, 93, of Auburn died peacefully Sunday, October 18, 2015 in Clearwater, Florida.
His wife of 58 years, Gerd (Johansen) Nordahl died in 2003. He leaves his children, Gunnar Nordahl and his wife, Carol of Auburn and Karin Cantwell and her husband, Thomas of Sturbridge; five grandchildren and eleven greatgrandchildren; a sister, Tordis Ostensen of Oslo, Norway ; one nephew and two nieces and many wonderful friends.
Leif was born, raised and schooled in Norway. He married Gerd in 1945 and then came to the United States in 1948. Leif graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. Later in his life he attended Northeastern University.
Mr. Nordahl owned and operated his own company L&E Engineering in Worcester for over 20 years. He later worked as a mechanical engineer for Russell Harrington and Hyde Tool Company before he retired. Leif loved trains.. and for a time in his life he wrote for and was an award winning author for The Norwegian Locomotive Magazine in Norway. He also enjoyed traveling , he and his wife, traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. He was a proud member of the Joel H. Prouty Masonic Lodge in Auburn.
Funeral services for Mr. Nordahl will be private in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
