Russell Burgess Pratt, 101, of Framingham formerly of Shrewsbury died Saturday, March 19, in Kathleen Daniel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an illness.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late Carlyle and Evalina (Burgess) Pratt. Russell graduated from the Major Howard Beal High School in 1932.

Russell had worked for over twenty five years as a Foreman for A.E. Burgess Leather Company before retiring in 1979. In his younger years Russell played the piano and was a lover of music. Throughout his long life he enjoyed gardening and was a breeder of hunting dogs. Russell was also an avid sportsman and was a former member of the Shrewsbury Sportsman Club.

Russell was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn S. (Shortsleeves) Pratt who died in 1998. He leaves his son, Ronald W. Pratt and his wife, Suzanne of Ashland; two nephews, Gary B. Pratt and his wife, Barbara of Falmouth and David J. Pratt and his wife, Sandra South Yarmouth. Besides his wife, Russell was predeceased by a brother, Marson Eaton Pratt.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mr. Pratt’s family on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 10 AM in Mountain View Cemetery (Section L) Shrewsbury, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
