Obituary for Cynthia B. Lauzonis (Rhodes)

AUBURN- Cynthia Bylund (Rhodes) Lauzonis, 72, of Auburn died Tuesday, May 31, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

Cynthia was born in Worcester and raised in Auburn daughter of the late George and Vera (Bylund) Rhodes. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1961 where she excelled in Field Hockey and Softball.

Cynthia met and married her best friend, William P. Lauzonis on October 18th, 1969. They started their life together and had lived in Auburn for the past 33 years.

She worked as Home Health Aide for over 26 years for the former Auburn District Nurses before she retired in 2011. She was a life-long member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

She leaves her husband, William P. Lauzonis; a daughter, Allayne D. Nelson and her husband, Douglas of Auburn; two grandchildren, Amelia and William Nelson of Auburn; a brother, George D. Rhodes of Quinebaug, CT and his wife Helen, a sister Shirley Ann Olson predeceased her in 1999, one niece Diane Gregoire and her husband Leo, two nephews, David Rhodes, and Charles Olson. She also leaves behind great nephews, a great niece, and a great-great nephew and niece, cousins, relatives, friends, and neighbors whom she was very close and cared much about.

Spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends was her joy. She also enjoyed cooking, baking Swedish coffee bread, Christmas Eve with the family, and visiting the National Seashore on Cape Cod.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Cynthia’s family on Sunday June 5, 2016 from 2-5 PM in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral will be on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11 AM in Bethel Lutheran Church, 90 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
