Obituary for Ernest John Wesolowski

AUBURN- Ernest J. Wesolowski, 88, a longtime Auburn resident died Tuesday July 26, 2016 in the Life Care Center of Auburn surrounded by his loving family.

Ernest was born in Holden, son of the late Alexander W. and Marianna (Pairda) Wesolowski. He graduated from Holden High School and then entered in to the United States Navy serving his country proudly during W.W. II.

Ernest along with his brother, Chester had owned and operated a Gulf Service Station in the Jefferson section of Holden for over 30 years. He later had worked as a salesman for Kelley Square Tires in Worcester before he retired.

He leaves his loving family, his wife of 33 years, Doris Higgins Wesolowski; his daughter, Rita Wesolowski and her husband Michael Kirkpatrick of Leicester; three step children, Thomas Higgins and his wife Kathleen of Auburn, Cathy Ceccarelli and her husband Paul of South Carolina and Diane Gray and her husband Frank of Centerville; a sister, Eleanor Rattigan of Natick; also survived by nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Lillian (Malatesta) Wesolowski, two brothers, Chester and Joseph and a sister, Cecilia Merchant.

Ernest had several hobbies including card games such as cribbage and pitch, he enjoyed swimming and visiting the seashore and tending to his beautiful flower gardens throughout the years. He was a member of Saint Joseph’s Parish in Auburn and was a past president of the Massachusetts Submarines Veterans.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ernest’s family on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 9:00-10:30 am in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central St, Auburn. A funeral Mass celebrating his life will follow at 11:00am in Saint Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford St North Auburn. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02457.
