AUBURN- Elizabeth J. (Fahnstrom) “Betty” Earley, 88, died peacefully on Monday August 15, 2016 at Beaumont at Northborough.

Born in Worcester, MA, daughter of Carl and Dorothy (Smith) Fahnstrom, she graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and started her working career at the former Paul Revere Life Insurance Company. While there, she helped organize a company softball team which went on to win a State championship.

After her marriage, Betty moved to Auburn where she lived for over 50 years.

Her husband, John J. Earley, died in 1983. She leaves a daughter, Janice Earley, and her husband, James Roldan, of E. Hampstead, N.H., a sister, Barbara Stanton of Northborough; a sister-in-law, Wilhelmina Fahnstrom, of Illinois, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves a close friend, Carolyn Dumais of Auburn. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard C. Fahnstrom of Pekin, Illinois.

Betty was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Auburn where she served as church secretary for fifteen years. She was a member of the choir, several church committees and was President of its Naomi Women’s Group for a number of years. She had also been a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed traveling, the beach, being with friends and family and her church.

The family wishes to thank all at Beaumont who provided such loving care to her.

There are no calling hours. A funeral service celebrating Betty’s life will be on Friday August 19, 2016 at 11am in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, 90 Bryn Mawr Avenue Auburn, MA 01501 or to the Activity Fund at Beaumont of Northborough, 238 West Main Street, Northborough, MA 01532.
