Catherine A "Kate"  Burke (McGurn)
CCatherine A. “Kate” (McGurn) Burke, 88, of Shrewsbury died Tuesday May 23, 2017.

Catherine was born in Worcester and raised in Shrewsbury daughter of the late James A. and Catherine (McQuaid) McGurn. She graduated from Ascension High School in Worcester.

Catherine leaves her husband and best friend of 62 years, Robert J. Burke; her loving children, Kathleen A. Burke of Manchester, CT, Roland A. Burke and his wife, Mary Jane of Medway, James K. Burke of Franklin; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Burke and her husband Hugh of Shrewsbury and Margaret “Peggy” Naleski of Auburn; also survived by several nieces, nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by a son, Robert P. Burke and a sister, Mary Ann McGurn

“Kate” as she was known to her friends and co-workers, had worked in the Treasurer’s office at the Worcester County Court House for many years before she retired.

She was a member of Saint Anne’s Parish in Shrewsbury. Kate loved entertaining and having all the family over for the holidays and family gatherings. Throughout the years she also enjoyed bowling and being a member of several leagues.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Kate’s family on Friday May 26, 2017 from 4-7 pm in the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral will be on Saturday May 27, 2017 with a funeral Mass celebrated at 10 am in Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, (www.stjude.org)
