Barbara M.  Schulman (Gavin)
AUBURN- Barbara M. (Gavin) Schulman, 82, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Sanford E. Schulman; three sons, Steven A. Schulman and his wife Linda of Leicester, Mark J. Schulman of Acton and Randy W. Schulman and his wife Susan of Charlton; her daughter Kathy L. Schulman and her wife Laurie A. Costa of Bolton; four brothers, Donald Gavin and his wife Pat of Webster, Daniel Gavin and his wife Pat of Millbury, William Gavin and Paul Gavin, both of Worcester; three sisters, Tarese Basilici of Orlando, Florida, Shirley “Ann” Franco of Worcester and Dorothy Landry and her husband Richard also of Worcester; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and countless loving nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother James Gavin and sister Kathleen Gavin.

Barbara was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Austin and Gertrude (Adams) Gavin. She worked in distribution for Filenes Basement and Millbrook Distributors for many years. She was a much-loved patron at John’s Long Island Hotdog in Webster Square where she had coffee daily with her beloved sisters Dot and Ann. An avid walker, Barbara’s greatest joy came in hosting family parties. Her large Thanksgiving dinners and annual Christmas parties were legendary. Family was the focus of her life. She was not merely grandmother, mother, wife, sister and aunt but a dedicated and compassionate confidant and friend to all. Words cannot express how dearly she will be missed.

The family would also like to acknowledge the loving care provided by Summit Elder Services and Shrewsbury Rehab and Nursing Center.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Barbara’s family on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central St, Auburn, MA. A service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St John’s Cemetery in Worcester.
