Obituary for John E Burton

John E Burton
John E. Burton, Jr., 67, of Oxford died Sunday July 2, 2017 after an illness surrounded by his loving family.

John was born in Framingham son of the late John E. Burton, Sr., and Rosemarie (Clark) Burton. He attended Auburn High School and enlisted in the United States Navy during Vietnam and served aboard the U.S.S. JFK aircraft carrier from 1969 until his honorable discharge in 1972. He was proud to be a veteran and was a member of the Oxford VFW and its honor guard.

John had worked as a truck driver for many years before he retired.

John loved motorcycles and building hot rods. He was known to joke around and live life to the fullest; but he would always say the best thing in life was his family.

He leaves his wife and best friend of 43 years, Paula C. Burton; a son, Michael J. Burton and his wife Angela of Portland, CT; a daughter, Wendy A. Keenan and her husband Bryan of Webster; three grandchildren, Alanna and Audrey Burton and Alyssa Keenan; two sisters, Debbie Allard of Worcester, Karen Towle of Millbury and a brother Richard Burton of Webster. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Florence Beutler.

Family and friends are invited to visit with John’s family on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 5-7 pm in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUENRAL HOME, 91 Central St, Auburn. A graveside service with military honors will be held privately in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
