Obituary for Evan L Hancox-Rozicki

Shrewsbury MA resident Evan Hancox-Rozicki, beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend, died on June 21 at age 52.

She was mom to Conor M. Rozicki and Teo Vazquez. Her father was the late Charles Leonard Hancox of Averill Park, NY. Her brother is Charles Benjamin Hancox of Bessemer, Alabama. Her older sister was the late Eve Hancox Grogan of Waterford and Kihei, Maui. Her mother is Rena Williams Hancox Mayberry, and her stepfather is E. Charles Mayberry of Shrewsbury MA. Her nieces are Alice Grogan Lewis of Maui, Sydney Hancox of Bessemer, and Kayla McCullough. Her nephew is Alonzo Grogan of Pullman, Washington. Her grandnephew, Gray Lewis, is Alice’s son. Her Aunt is Lesslie Williams; first cousins are Jeunesse Rugg, Jesse Francis, and Noah James Williams of Maui. Evan married to Michael Rozicki of Waterliet, NY.

She grew up in Waterford, NY, attending town schools, Hudson Valley Community College and Anna Maria College. While in New York state, she worked in retail, for the Center for Disability Services in child care and as the Statue of Liberty during tax season. Upon moving to Massachusetts, she worked for Direct Energy and Protocol in Worcester and Rite Aid in Shrewsbury. Evan and her children shared a home with Rena and Chuck at 57 Walnut St. She made many friends here.

A memorial service, to which friends and family are invited, will be held on Sunday July 30 at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 19 Church Road, Shrewsbury MA. Lunch will follow so we can comfort each other, share our memories and our stories. BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury is assisting Evan’s family with arrangements.
