Obituary for Ralph S. "Bucky" Carpenter Jr.

Ralph S. "Bucky" Carpenter Jr.
Ralph Sprague “Bucky” Carpenter, Jr., 95, passed away peacefully at his home on August 25, 2017 surrounded by his family.

He leaves his daughter, Rhonda and her husband Michael Belhumeur of Auburn, MA, two sons, Keith Sr. of No. Grosvenordale, CT and his companion Debra Tetreault, and Neal of Webster, MA, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Frances P. Marsh.

He was born in Auburn, son of the late Ralph S. Carpenter, Sr. and Dora E. (Carlson) Carpenter. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1940. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps having earned the rank of Sergeant. He also received Qualification Badges for Expert Rifleman, Bayonet, and Pistol and a diploma from the U. S. Marine Corps Machinist School. He fought in World War II in Saipan and enjoyed recapping the action from the front lines to his family.

Bucky retired in 1987 from Dana Corp. in Webster, MA after 47 years of service as a machinist during which time he was chosen as “Personality of the Month”. He was an avid Red Sox fan whose fondest memory was the team winning the 2004 World Series and enjoyed watching the Patriots as well.

His favorite pastimes were gardening, especially his tomato plants and geraniums, carpentry, and “monkeying around” in the yard. He was liked by everyone he met as evidenced by the outpouring of well-wishers during his brief illness. He will be sadly missed by his family and his beloved cat “Rusty”. Semper Fi…
