John A. Smith, 72, of Auburn died Sunday, September 10, 2017 in the Life Care Center of Auburn.

John was born in Portland, Maine son of the late Harold and Barbara (Fenno) Smith. He graduated from Boys’ Trade High School, Worcester, MA. John served his country proudly with the Army National Guard for several years.

He worked as a truck driver for Winter Hill Frozen Foods in Westborough for 27 years before he retired.

He leaves his children, Keith J. Smith and his wife Betsy of Rutland and Kimberly J. Smith Roy of North Brookfield; his grandchildren, Evan and Trevor Grenier, Samuel Smith and Vanessa Roy; and his former wife, Eleanor Smith of North Brookfield. Special mention to his good friends Danny & Barbara Burmer of Millbury. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Zilli and nephew, David Zilli.

John had several interests; his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. Another passion was working on his race car, a 1964 Ford Falcon, which gave him great pleasure! He also loved watching drag racing either live or on TV and he was a true New England Sports Fan.

Funeral services and burial for John will be held privately.
