Obituary for Sylvia T Connor (Cote)

Sylvia T. (Cote) Connor, 90, of Auburn departed this life on Thursday September 14, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence in Worcester, MA. In her passing, she was comforted by her enduring lifetime legacy of the closeness and unity of her four children and their families.

Sylvia was born in Holyoke, MA and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Telesphore and Yvonne (Boulanger) Cote. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester. Sylvia married in 1948 and proceeded to raise a family while working part-time. Upon being widowed in 1982, she held bookkeeping jobs at multiple businesses, finally retiring from the Butler-Dearden Company in Worcester.

Sylvia will be fondly remembered by her entire family especially her children, Kathleen and William Lavigne of Dudley, MA, Michael and Stephanie Connor of Lilburn, GA, Cynthia and Peter Roberts of Charlton, MA, and Stephen and Tammy Connor of Chesterfield, VA; grandchildren, Jennifer Hearn and her partner Scott Daigneault, Stacey Lavigne, Megan Connor, Courtney and Matthew Hartl, Jonathan Roberts, Jessica Connor and Chelsea Connor; also survived by great grandchildren, Will Lavigne, Keira Hearn, Aurora and Arabella Lavigne along with many nieces and nephews. Sylvia has been reunited with her husband of 34 years, John F. Connor. She has also joined her partner of 15 years, Paul Wynne, her sister Jeanne Chouinard, brothers Richard and Robert Cote, and her beloved grandsons Billy Lavigne and Sean Connor.

Sylvia treasured her family and delighted in all of their activities and accomplishments. In her children’s early years, she spent many summers on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Later in life she spent many hours at the Auburn Senior Center and enjoyed going on their many bus trips throughout New England. Sylvia was a delight to those around her because of her intelligence, quick wit, and sharp sense of humor. A voracious reader, she subscribed to multiple book clubs and always had a novel nearby. Some of her many other interests included playing cards, cooking, and discussing politics. Although she enjoyed all animals, cats held a special place in her heart.

Sylvia’s family wishes to thank the VNA Network Staff and Rose Monahan Hospice Residence for all the compassion and care given to Sylvia and their concern for the entire Connor family.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Sylvia’s family on Tuesday September 19, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral will be on Wednesday September 20, 2017 with a funeral Mass celebrated at 11:00 am in North American Martyr’s Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the VNA Network and Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
