Obituary for Catherine M "Cathy" Casey (McGinnis)
Catherine M.” Cathy” (McGinnis) Casey, 58, of Shrewsbury passed Thursday November 30, 2017 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence in Worcester surrounded by her loving family.
Catherine was born in Worcester and raised in Shrewsbury one of ten children of John A. and Mary C. (Mahan) McGinnis. She graduated from St. Peter Marian High School in 1977 and later attended Framingham State University.
Cathy spent most of working career in the Healthcare Profession. First, for the family business, that was started by her mother, McGinnis Healthcare, followed by five dedicated years for Spectrum Healthcare and finishing her career with Cape Cod Hospital.
When Cathy was not found at work, you could find her with her large Irish family who meant so much to her or at her other favorite places on this planet, the beaches of Long Boat Key in Florida and the sandy beaches along beautiful Cape Cod.
Cathy leaves behind her best friend and loving husband of seventeen years, Kevin C. Casey; her children, Paul “Alex” Alward, Matthew C. Casey and his wife Lauren, Patrick M. Casey and his wife Briana and Elizabeth K. Casey; two grandchildren; Genevieve and Alana; her father, John A. “Jack” McGinnis, Sr.; nine siblings, John A. “Jack” McGinnis, Jr. and his wife Gayle , William C. McGinnis and his wife Diane, Paul E. McGinnis and his wife Faith, Elizabeth McGinnis, Michael R. McGinnis and his wife Lisa, Maryann McGinnis Carroll and her husband Sean, Patricia A. McGinnis Firlotte, Ann M. McGinnis and Daniel J. McGinnis; also survived by several nieces, nephews and her mother-in-law, Nell E. Casey. She was predeceased by her mother, Mary C. (Mahan) McGinnis who died in 2011 and her father-in-law, John M. Casey who died in 2016.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Cathy’s family on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 3:00-7:00 pm in the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral will be on Tuesday December 5, 2017 from the funeral home with a funeral Mass celebrated at 10 am in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Friends who wish to honor Cathy’s memory may contribute to the VNA Care Hospice, Rose Monahan Residence, 10 Judith Road, Worcester MA 01602 or to Saint Mary Church, 20 Summer Street, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
