Paula Sczurko (Kien)
Paula (Kien) Sczurko, 82, formerly of Auburn, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Webster Manor Care Center in Webster.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph, in 2014. Paula leaves a daughter, Maria Tuniewicz and her husband, Thomas of Southbridge; a son, Joseph J. Sczurko, Jr., and his wife, Nancy of Windham, Maine; four grandchildren, Sarah and Rachel Tuniewicz and Joseph III and Sophia Sczurko.

Paula was born in 1935 in Gruenenbaindt, Germany, and raised in the beautiful rural Bavarian countryside, daughter of the late Josepha Kien and Sebastian Scheibenbogen. She immigrated to the United States aboard the “America” in December 1954, and became naturalized as a US citizen in 1966. She worked for Brown Shoe and Wyman-Gordon, and as a leather cutter for Davey’s Handbags in Worcester.

Paula was a passionate gardener, loved her cats, and liked to swing and dance to the music. She was an exceptional cook and regularly made wonderful authentic Swabian dishes and desserts from scratch. She and her husband returned to travel throughout Europe many times and particularly enjoyed spending time in Germany where she was raised. Paula was a longtime parishioner of North American Martyr’s Parish in Auburn.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Paula’s family on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 4-6 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St, Auburn.
