Obituary for Isabelle M Raymond (Parmenter)

Isabelle (Parmenter) Barry Raymond parted this life to her next on January 30th, 2018 at the age of 90.

Born to Frederick and Isabelle (Magill) Parmenter in Worcester, Mass. Isabelle was predeceased by her husband of 49 years Robert “Pat” Barry. They had three children; She was predeceased by her son Robert Barry of West Brookfield who was married to Sueann. Her daughters are Ellen Wenner married to Doug Wenner of Clemmons, NC. And Nancy Ford married to Daniel Ford of Leicester, Ma. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Kristie Barry, Lynn Corfey, Mikell White, Jenny Britter, Randall Wenner, Leanne O’Donnell, Ryan Wenner, Kelly Shipman and Patricia Cutler and Daniel Ford. Isabelle thought her grandchildren and great-grandchildren (of which there are 20!) were the greatest gifts from God. In turn, her grandchildren thought Gram was the gift that kept on giving of love, wisdom, treats, back rubs and the best hugs in the world.

Fortunately, Isabelle found love again with her wonderful friend and husband Normand Raymond in 2002. Their 16-year marriage brought new memories and a new family to love and cherish; daughter Kathy Raymond, Janet Bergeron and sons David and Russell as well as many new grandchildren to love and spoil.

Isabelle was an entrepreneur and business woman as well as an inspirational wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. She and her husband Pat were owners of Barry’s Beauty Salon I in Auburn for over 20 years then Barry’s II in Harwich for over 5. She also was the owner of the Smith House Restaurant in Harwichport and The Gingerbread House, Hampton Beach, NH. She earned the title of Business Woman of the Year in the 70’s. When retired she was a volunteer at several nursing facilities, libraries, art museums, and the Auburn Racquetball Ball Club. She was inspired by the friends she met and they started an exercise group called the Raisenettes.
She will be dearly missed by her high school girlfriend Barbara Soponski.

Every friend, coworker and neighbor became part of her family.

Isabelle was also a world traveler. Onetime skiing from Switzerland into Italy. Other times biking in Hawaii, Aruba, Jamaica, Europe as well as Florida, New Hampshire and Cape Cod. Her children and grandchildren weren’t shocked when she went parasailing and rollerblading in her 70’s. That’s just Gram. A more remarkable woman you will never meet.

Many thanks belong to her devoted families. Her husband always beside her in her last months as well as her “baby” Nancy, children and grandchildren. Her last weeks were especially warm and loving with all by her bedside coming to give back all the love she blessed on them. She lived by the Golden Rule and asks other to do the same. Many thanks to the Quaboag Rehab team for your love and comfort.

Isabelle was an unselfish woman that lived to make others happy. She made all people feel special and made you want to be a better person. Honor her memory with an act of kindness.

Calling hours will be on Saturday February 3, 2018 from 9:00-11:00 am in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral service will follow at 11:30 am in Saint Thomas Episcopal Church, 35 School Street, Auburn. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
