Phyllis W.  Brockett (Walford)
Phyllis W. Brockett, 86, died at home Friday, March 2, 2018, surrounded by family following a battle with cancer.

Phyllis was born September 3, 1931 in Willimantic, CT, the daughter of Edward and Gladys (Burdick) Walford. She grew up in Wallingford, CT and spent many summers as a camper and counselor at Camp Huckins on Lake Ossippee in Freedom, NH. Phyllis was a 1954 graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Nursing. In September, 1955, she married Donald N. Brockett, of North Haven, CT. They started their family in Bristol, CT, later moving to Wallingford, CT and then Shrewsbury, MA in 1971.

She leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Dawn Brockett, of Hampton, NH; a daughter-in-law, Laura Brockett of Randolph, NH; a daughter, Elizabeth Brockett, of Barrington, NH; grandchildren Ian Brockett of Austin, TX; Emily Brockett of Charlotte, NC; Chris and Sarah Brockett of Randolph, NH; and Meg Brockett of Hampton, NH; and a sister, Charlotte Caswell, of Wallingford, CT. She was predeceased by Donald in 2006 and by her son, Peter, in 2016.

Phyllis was a long-time member of the First Congregational Church, Shrewsbury, singing in the church choir for over 35 years; and participated in Bible Study, Martha Circle, and Prayer Shawl Ministry. She was a talented musician and spent many years as a piano teacher to children and adults in Shrewsbury. She also accompanied Westborough Community Chorus, Westborough Players’ Club, Assabet Valley Master Singers, and most recently, a chorus providing therapy for those battling Parkinson’s Disease. She was an avid bridge player and reader and participated in numerous bridge and book clubs, loved summers at Crescent Lake in Raymond, ME, and spending time with her family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the First Congregational Church, 19 Church Road, Shrewsbury. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Congregational Church, 19 Church Road, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
