Obituary for Dorothy J "Dottie" McCarthy (Park)

Dorothy J "Dottie" McCarthy (Park)
Dorothy J. “Dottie” (Park) McCarthy, 86, a lifetime Shrewsbury resident, passed peacefully on February 28, 2018, with her loving family by her side.

Dottie was born in Worcester and raised in Shrewsbury; daughter of the late David and Catherine (Darroch) Park. She graduated from Major Howard Beal High School.

She had a longstanding career with the former Jamesbury Corp. Dottie also had a long history as a bartender, and most noteworthy was her tenure as the beloved Keno matron at Bronzo’s.

Dottie was a loyal friend who always knew how to make people smile. She was an avid reader, an extraordinary cook, and a passionate card player. She loved her trips to an “undisclosed location.” Most of all she cherished her sister, her family, and the lasting memories she created with them.

Dottie was predeceased by her husband, Frederick E. McCarthy, Sr., in 1966. She leaves her beloved sister, Norma Moroz and her husband Robert; Dottie’s four children, Frederick E. McCarthy, Jr. and his wife Jeannette, Deidra D. (McCarthy) Lincoln and her husband Paul, David McCarthy, and Norma T. McCarthy; seven grandchildren, Paul Lincoln III and his wife Aimee, Taylor McLane and her husband Ryan, Ryan McCarthy, Evan McCarthy, Alyssa McCarthy, Colby McCarthy, and Jason McCarthy; three great grandchildren, Ryan, Jade, and Logan; also survived by niece, Tracey Wik and her husband Seamus and their daughter Charlotte.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering hosted by family on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 1-5 pm at the Shrewsbury Sportsmen's Club, 304 Boylston St, Shrewsbury. Funeral services will take place privately.
