Obituary for Josephine Helen "Jo" Gow

Josephine “Jo” H. (Pendell) Gow, 90, of Auburn died peacefully on Friday, June 8, 2018 at her residence at Brookdale Eddy Pond in Auburn. She was the wife of the late Richard C. Gow who predeceased her in 1989.

Josephine was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Washington and Rosanna (Grenier) Pendell. She was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester.

After her marriage to Richard (“Dick”) Gow, with whom she shared 39 wonderful years in marriage, they settled in Auburn where they raised their family. Raising and providing for her family was always very important to Jo. She truly loved giving as much time as she could to her children and Dick. While working as a bookkeeper, Jo always made her family her priority. She loved spending time with her family and friends, but most of all she enjoyed time with her grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time in Las Vegas, playing bingo, reading and truly enjoyed the time spent on Cape Cod.

Jo is survived by her children, James Gow and his wife Barbara of Auburn, Brian Gow of Auburn, and Tracy Moisuk and her husband William of West Boylston, grandchildren David Gow, and Alison Knowles, great grandson Keith Knowles, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Louise Shedd, Mary Wendell, Lillian Shedd, Sylvia Degon, and Paul Pendell.

The family would also like to give a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and aides at St. Vincents Hospital Progressive Care ICU, who were great to her in her last days before she was able to go home to rest.

Relatives and family friends are invited to visit with Jo’s family on Tuesday, June 12 beginning at 12 Noon with her Funeral Service at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451-8750.
