Obituary for Ernest J Richard
Ernest J. Richard, 93, of Auburn died peacefully Friday, July 13, 2018 at Homestead Hall in Worcester. He was the husband of the late Marie (Landry) Richard with whom he shared 55 wonderful years.
Born in Mexico, Maine, the son of the late Placide and Annie (Bourque) Richard, Ernest was raised in Rumford, Maine. Upon his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served until 1946. Following his return from his service to our country, Ernest worked as a machinist for the Norton Company in Worcester where he dedicated 40 years of service.
Fishing, hunting and playing golf were amongst his favorite hobbies, however his many travel destinations brought him the most fun. Of all the places he traveled to, Florida was most likely his favorite. In spite of all the pleasure these brought him his family meant the most to him. Any time spent with them, whether around the table during the holidays or working on a project around the house was time he cherished.
Ernest is survived by his daughter Sharon Madore of Charlton, his son Michael Richard of Auburn, siblings Aurele Richard of Leicester, Doris Pelletier of Rumford, ME, and his two grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Anita Duphilly of Fitchburg and Placide Richard, Jr. of Worcester.
Ernest’s family would like to thank all of the staff at Homestead Hall for all the kindness and friendships shown to Ernest during his stay there.
Services for Ernest will be held in private by his family with the assistance of the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Homestead Hall, 10 Homestead Avenue, Worcester, MA 01601.
