Condolence: Bob was a special man, dedicated and persistent in his efforts to share his passions with young women and men, seeing the potential in every youngster than entered into his presence. He gave tirelessly to make these encounters meaningful and memorable.

He was a consistent and persistent advocate for kids to explore, to expand their horizons, through the after-school programming that he treasured. His personal, vested interest, through time, energy, that 'extra effort' including his own personal expense at times, to make these impactful experiences the best they could be. As we all know, he kept at it and kept keeping after it, to overcome any and all bureaucracies and other institutional impediments to assure the program happened. Bob wanted the full experience offered to the students, especially the visits to the Harvard College Observatory. His personal drive to these ends were inspiring, and mutually beneficial for all involved, for myself, the scientists & graduate students that participated in the 'Bob visits'. The graduate students often expressed to me how much they enjoyed meeting the youth, fielding their engaging & sometimes 'way out there' questions. These student visits invigorated and energized my colleagues. These experiences were but part of what made Bob a valued associate & colleague.

Know that your dad made an impact and continues to, in many, many lives.

Blessings to you and yours.

Condolence: I am so sorry for your loss. Bob was a truly remarkable man. I met him at an Aldrich Astronomical Society meeting back in 2011. He instantly pulled me into his orbit and from that point on I became a point of contact for Bob helping to organize his many student outings to the Harvard Center for Astrophysics for a tour of the facility and some face-to-face time with professional astronomers.

Hearing of his passing has deeply saddened me, but I'm reminded of how hard he fought cancer and how much of himself he devoted to his students. At times when no one would have faulted him for stepping back and resting, he pushed through with his oxygen tank and climbed up and down four flights of stairs to help his students see Harvard's historical telescopes! It was a great honor getting to know Bob, and being able to help him achieve his educational goals is something I'll always remember and it will continue to serve as a source of inspiration in my own work.

Rest in peace, Bob.

Condolence: Dear Mersereau Family
I am so sorry to read of Bob's passing.
Bob was one of the finest gentlemen that I had the pleasure of working with and listening to.
I enjoyed a few meals with Bob and Marie in their Shrewsbury home years ago.
We swapped XMAS cards each year and it became humorous as to when one would stop sending them as we hadn't seen each other in many years.
We did I speak, by phone, last December.
My memory of Bob contains the person of a highly intelligent gentleman who always had a way of making me feel good about myself. I am positive he had that affect on many others.
Sorry to go on at length.
Robert was a man that was not truly appreciated by some others when we worked together.
Rest in Peace Robert.
Joe

Condolence: I am very sad today about the recent passing of one of the nicest guys I've ever known. I've known Bob for about 30 years and I consider him a very caring friend. I first met Bob when I was a Bank Manager and he opened up his store in Fitchburg. We hit it off right away, and every time he came in to the bank, he always stopped for a chat. I quickly got to think of him as the "smart guy" and I mean that in the best possible way. I could tell right away that he was very learned in many different areas. His opinions were based on an intellect that I wish I had. After a few years, Bob joined my club, the Exchange Club of Fitchburg and I spent many evenings with him, learning something every time. I got to meet Mrs. Mersereau and I give her and the rest of the family my sincere condolences. From me to Bob I say this. Thank you for your friendship, Bob. My God rest your soul until we meet again.
