Obituary for Janet F Wiley (Gallant)
Janet Wiley, long-time resident of Laconia, NH, passed away peacefully at home in Sutton where she spent her last years with her daughter. Janet passed on September 8, 2018 – her 96th birthday. She was the eldest of five children of Aubin and Albertine Gallant of Manchester, NH. Janet was predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters. She was also predeceased by her husbands, Robert Wiley & Alton Fox, both of Laconia, NH.
Janet is survived by her three children, Sandra Fitzgerald of Murrells Inlet, SC, Stephen Fox of Boston, MA, and Patricia McCaffrey of Sutton, MA, as well as her grandchildren, Wendy Fried of Bethel, CT, Ryan McCaffrey of Sutton, MA, and Meghan McCaffrey of Boston, MA, as well as two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves many dear friends in Sutton and Laconia.
During her years in Laconia, Janet was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church and the Opechee Garden Club. She also served as a volunteer at Lakes Region General Hospital for many years. Janet’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed cooking, playing cards and games, knitting, and lively debates concerning politics. In her last year she compiled a cookbook of her favorite recipes to share with those she loved.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 12th at St. Mary's Church in Shrewsbury, MA. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge (http://danafarber.jimmyfund.org/goto/ryanm).
