Obituary for Bernice I LaFlamme (Landry)

Bernice I. (Landry) LaFlamme, of Shrewsbury died Friday evening October 5, 2018 in Notre Dame Long Term Care after a period of declining health.

Bernice was born in Chelsea, MA daughter of the late Jeffrey A. and Mary Rose (Callahan) Landry. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester in 1942 and on June 17, 1942 she married the love of her life, Andrew LaFlamme who would later become a Fire Chief in the Town of Shrewsbury. They were married for 53 years at the time of his death in 1998.

Bernice had worked briefly at Kranska Thread Company in Worcester, MA as a bobbin winder but much preferred being home taking care of her husband, family and home. She was a faithful member of Saint Anne’s Parish in Shrewsbury.

Bernice leaves behind her children, Andrew LaFlamme, Jr., and his wife Jane, Gerald LaFlamme and his wife Irene and Maria Camerano and her partner Alan Higgins. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and a brother, Paul Landry. Besides her husband Andrew and parents, Bernice is predeceased by a brothers, Alfred, William and Herbert Landry and two sisters, Mary McGee and Anna Agnetti.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday October 10, 2018 at 10:00 am in Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. There are no calling hours.
