She was born in Shrewsbury, MA, the daughter of the late Frederick and Lucille (Timbers) Layden. She attended Shrewsbury High School and later the Mass General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse in varying capacities throughout her life. Of all her nursing roles, her favorite was hospice where bringing peace to those in their final moments came naturally.

She supported organizations for change, fostered children, and was a mother to many, rushing to support and help her fellow humans at every opportunity. She will be remembered for her kindness and vivacious personality. She was infinitely proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a sage listener and a loving spirit. Even though we know her kindness and laughter will no longer brighten our days, we will always have our memories, and we know we will be together again.
