Obituary for Gilbert G "Gil" Nobert III

Gilbert G "Gil" Nobert III
OXFORD – Gilbert G. “Gil” Nobert III, 69, of Oxford and former longtime Auburn resident died on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Charlene (Kusy) Nobert.

Born in Worcester, the son of the late Ellen (Anderson) and Gilbert G. Nobert, Jr., Gil was raised and educated in Auburn, graduating from Auburn High School, class of 1967. Upon graduation from high school, Gil started his own construction company. In 1968 he enlisted in the Air Force until his Honorable Discharge in 1974. In 1973, Gil married the love his life, Charlene. Together, they lived for a short time in Auburn until they built their home in Oxford where they raised their family.

Gil was an active member of the The Auburn Lodge of Elks, The Auburn Sportsmens Club, the VFW, and the Chester P. Tuttle Post 279 Legion, and most importantly the founder and proud member of the "Mole Patrol." He played in a band called the Gypsy Cowboys as well as the Ravens. Gil enjoyed working, the beach, playing guitar, and being with his friends and family. He was a fantastic father, grandfather, a true friend, and one of the hardest workers. He was the man people went to for advice, courage, and opinions. Gil was a fighter. He went through a heart attack, 2 strokes, cancer, and so much more. And through it all he NEVER complained!! A much needed lesson for ALL of us to learn. His motto, courtesy of Jimmy Buffet, "If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane."

In addition to his beloved wife of 45 years, Gil is survived by his children Gilbert Nobert of Oxford, Kylie Mannion and her husband Jay of Dudley, Nicole Finnie and husband Jason of Ware, step-mother Alice Nobert, cherished grandchildren Sadie Mae Nobert, Jericho Grillo, Annalie Mannion, Justus Mannion, Jaden Finnie, Calan Finnie, and Nolan Finnie, sibling Judith Garneau, Janet Carlson, Patricia Beauregard, Gail Longueil, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Friday, December 14, 2018 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A Celebration of Life Service will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home. Burial will be held in private at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Gil’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241 or to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
