James was a friend of mine from camp over the summer, and even though I only knew him for a week he made a meaningful impact on everyone by being an exemplary person and great friend. He always had a great sense of humor and a beyond exceptional determination in everything he did. We all looked forward to seeing him as staff next summer. I am so sorry this tragedy has struck, and my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

I do not know you or your family; and I did not know James. As a mother, my heart breaks for you all. I am hoping that in time, your memories of James make you smile when you remember them, and take comfort in knowing he is with you always. I am so very sorry for your family's loss.

My son, Peter, went to encampment with James. They were directly across the hall from each other and Peter could not speak more highly of James. He said that whenever things got tough, everyone went to see James because he could always cheer them up.

I can not imagine the pain of losing a child, but my older sister died when she was 17. We all swore that we would take the best things about her and incorporate those things into our lives. Peter and I discussed this. He believes that in honoring him this way, James spirit will live on. Know that in his time on earth, James inspired others to be kind, brave, strong, funny, resilient, and very much a leader. He has left a huge mark on my son's heart and Peter will be a better person for knowing him.

Peter heard the news when he was decorating his squadron for their Christmas party. He was devastated. He told me that everytime he see Christmas decorations, he is going to think about James. I told him that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. James will never be forgotten.

You have my heartfelt condolences. I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. You were the only person who could cheer me up when I needed it most and I cant thank you enough for what you did for me. You were so kind and loving. When I met you in 5th grade, we just became best friends and had very good times with each other. Im sad this had to happen to such a young person with a bright future. You impacted my life in such a way it will never be the same without you. We talked from the second we got to school to the second we went to bed. You will always be loved and missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Love you James. Rest easy.
