Obituary for John Ivashek
SPENCER, MA-John S. "Pa" Ivashek, Jr., 76, formerly of Auburn and East Sandwich, died Sunday, September 23rd in the Radius Healthcare Center, Worcester.
His wife, Marlene M. (Salo) Ivashek died in 1989.
He leaves his five children, Leanne Ivashek and her fiancé, James Fitzgerald of Spencer, with whom he lived, Karen L. Temple of Worcester, Nancy J. Monfette and her husband Michael of Hudson, NH, Lisa C. Burley and her husband Jeff of Oxford, and Stephen J. Ivashek and his wife Michelle of Auburn; and his seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Jason, Eric, Emily, Christopher, David, and Kelly.
He was born in Worcester, son of the late John S. Ivashek, Sr. and Anna (Tamulewicz) Ivashek and lived in Auburn for 22 years. He then moved to East Sandwich, where he lived for 13 years, returning to the area in 1992.
He served with the US Army for several years. Mr. Ivashek was the owner/operator of the former Southbridge Street Texaco in Auburn. He then moved to Cape Cod worked for the Hyannis Texaco, and then was the manager of Kevin's Cedarville Sunoco in Sandwich for 11 years before retiring in 1992.
He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Auburn, and a former member of the Auburn Council, Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and lobstering, camping, playing cribbage, was an excellent cook, and always looked forward to Keno at Christo's in Worcester.
The Ivashek family wishes to express their gratitude to the dedicated staff of the Radius at Worcester for the kind and compassionate care given to John during his stay there.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, September 25th from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 26th at 11 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research ATTN: Tribute Gifts Church Street Station, P.O.
