Obituary for John "Jack" Fahnestock

John "Jack"  Fahnestock
AUBURN- John H. “Jack” Fahnestock, 78, of Auburn, passed away on November 28, 2011 after a 16 yr battle with cancer.

His wife, Lois R. (Weeks) Fahnestock passed away in 2009. He is survived by his three children, Jane B. Nicoletti of Micco, FL, John “Sidecar” Fahnestock of Auburn, and Joel A. Fahnestock of Melbourne, FL; also survived by five grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and his sister, Grace Morgan of Camp Hill, PA.

Jack graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and then served his country proudly with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He worked for various machine tool builders in the area. In 1963, he started his own machine tool rebuilding company, J+L Scraping Service Inc. Later he purchased the Norton Surface Grinding Division from Warner and Swasey and built surface grinders to be shipped worldwide.

Jack was a member of the Auburn/Webster Lodge of Elks, Joel H. Prouty Lodge of Masons, Melha Temple Shriners, was Past President of Auburn Kiwanis, Past President of FMCA Northeastern Chapter, Past President of FMCA Cape Codders Chapter, and a member of the American Legion.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit with Jack’s family on Saturday, December 10, 2011 from 10:00-11:00 AM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00AM followed by burial with Military honors in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
