Richard M. Zaido, 74, of Shrewsbury passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Richard’s wife of 37 years, Jean M. (Morin) Zaido died in 2008. He leaves his loving children, Donald J. Wyne of Worcester and Kathleen A. Flanagan of Worcester; two grandsons, Ryan P. and Michael R. Flanagan of Worcester. He was predeceased by two brothers, Paul and David Zaido.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late Stephen and Grace (Underwood) Zaido and graduated from Classical High School in 1956. Richard later graduated from Wentworth Institute with a degree in Aircraft Technology in 1959.

Richard worked as the Director of Grounds and Transportation at the Westborough State Hospital for 10 years before he retired. His retirement years were spent traveling New England with his loving wife, Jean.

Richard loved spending time with his two grandsons, Ryan and Michael who he adored. He also owned and restored both Antiques and Hot Rod vehicles. He was a member of the Hot Rod Association.

At Richard’s request his funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Memorial donations can be made to the VNA and Elder Services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St. Shrewsbury.
