AUBURN - Evelyn M. (Robertson) Johnston, 86, known to many of her friends as Sis, passed away peacefully, Sunday April 24, 2016.

Evelyn was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Nichols) Robertson. She lived in Worcester for 56 years, before moving to Auburn.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Robert Johnston, who died in 2002.She is survived by her four children, Bob Jr. and his wife, Dee of San Jose, California, Richard (Dick) of Worcester, David and wife, Sarah of San Francisco, California, Pat Corley and her husband, Hal of Marietta, Georgia. She has nine grandchildren Morgan Sierra and her husband, Raymond, Jillian Johnston, Richard Jr. and his wife, Lynn, Tammy Sousa and her husband, Serry, Aaralyn Johnston, Chandler Corley and wife Hayley, Spenser Corley, Keegan Corley, George Maringo and his wife, Amy, and seven great grandchildren. Evelyn was one of five children. She leaves behind her brothers Edward Robertson and wife Elaina, Ronald Robertson and wife Pauline, Billy Robertson and his wife, Rita, and brother-in-law Chet Hale. She was also predeceased by her sister, Carol Hale, who died in 2012.

Evelyn was a beloved wife, mother neighbor and friend to many. She was known for her kindness and thoughtfulness to everyone who knew her. She had a few part time jobs, but enjoyed staying home and spoiling her husband and children. When they were grown and gone she started babysitting in her home as she loved children. Evelyn loved to go out and walk the neighborhood to socialize with the neighbors. She will be missed dearly.

Calling hour will be held Monday, May 2, 2016, from 9-10:30AM, in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral Mass will follow at 11AM in Saint Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street North, Auburn. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
