Obituary for Bernadine S. Drapeau (Slein)

LEICESTER/AUBURN- Bernadine S. (Slein) Drapeau, 82, of Leicester formerly of Auburn died Friday, May 27, 2016 in her home after an illness.

She was born in Worcester and raised in Leicester, daughter of the late Owen M. and Alice (Boland) Slein. Bernadine graduated from Leicester High School.

Bernadine had worked for the Town of Auburn as the Chief Tax Assessor for over 20 years retiring in 1996. She had lived in Auburn for 41 years and spent many summers in Alfred, Maine. When she and her husband Richard retired they permanently moved to Alfred, Maine.

Her husband of 46 years, Richard W. Drapeau died in November of 2002. She leaves three sons, Paul E. Drapeau and his wife Susan of Auburn, Mark P. Drapeau and his wife, Deirdre and David J. Drapeau, all of Leicester; four grandchildren, Matthew, Meaghan, Leah and Dakota; a sister, Ann Berlo of Arizona and two brothers, Owen Slein of Leicester and William Slein of Florida.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bernadine’s family on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 5-7 PM at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral will be on Friday, June 3, 2016 with a funeral Mass celebrated at 10 AM in Saint Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford St North, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
