John Linwood Kelley
John Linwood Kelley, 89, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 in Winchester, MA at his daughter's home surrounded by his loving family.
His wife of 48 years, Pauline (Marcous) Kelley passed away in 1998. He leaves three daughters, Kathleen K. Nilsson and her husband Claes of Cambridge, MA, Susan K, Steinman and her husband Jonathan of Cape Elizabeth, ME, and Andrea K. Braun and her husband Thomas of Winchester, MA; five grandchildren, Kelley Steinman of Portland, ME, Danielle Steinman of Park City, UT, John Nilsson of Somerville, MA, Conor Braun of Los Angeles, CA and Ryan Braun of Winchester. John is also survived by three nieces and one nephew. He was predeceased by his sister, Nancy K Littlefield.
John was born and raised in Lewiston, Maine, son of the late Linwood J. and Florence (Morrill) Kelley. He graduated from Lewiston High School, in 1944. Upon graduation, he was accepted into the Navy's V-12 Officer Training Program at Dartmouth College, from which he graduated with a B.S. degree in Navigational Science in 1947. John continued his education at the University of Maine at Orono, graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering 1949. John received a varsity letter in Basketball at the University of Maine.
Immediately following his college education, John accepted a job with Westinghouse Corporation, where he worked for more than 40 years as a Sales Engineer. John was a magician by hobby, often performing at his children's and grandchildren's birthday parties. He was an active member of the Society of American Magicians. He was also a member of the Westborough Country Club where he played golf with friends into his mid-eighties. John was a faithful member of Saint Mary’s Parish in Shrewsbury.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with John’s family on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 9:30-10:30 AM in the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERALHOME, 648 Main St, Shrewsbury. A funeral Mass celebrating his life will follow at 11 AM in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
