Obituary for James K. Nurse

James K.  Nurse
James K. Nurse, 63, of Dover Road and formerly of Auburn passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 in his home.

He leaves his wife of 25 years, Michelle J. (Simpson) Nurse, a daughter; Meighan R. Ruschioni and her husband Jason of Leominster, a brother; David A. Nurse of Auburn, a sister; Deborah G. Nurse and her husband Leonardo Topa of Auburn, his beloved granddaughter, Chloe E. Ruschioni, his nephews Matthew and James Topa of Auburn. He also leaves his father and mother in law, John E. Simpson, Sr. and Claire Simpson of Grafton, his brother in law John E. Simpson, Jr., and friends and colleagues around the world.

A descendant of New England’s earliest settlers, Jim was born in New London, CT son of Raymond P. and Barbara (Sherman) Nurse. He grew up on the family farm, raising his prize-winning livestock. He graduated from Worcester Academy in 1970. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and studied Computer Electronics at Sylvania Technical Institute. He embarked on an international career in business that took him around the world, living in Austria, Switzerland, and Singapore. He became the Director of Asian Operations for Leybold, for many years. Always a craftsman, he then studied stonemasonry and started Longmeadow Stone and Restoration. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Life with Jim was always an adventure. He enjoyed boating, skiing, biking, hiking, spending time outdoors, traveling, cooking, and fine wine. His most cherished times were spent with his granddaughter and his family.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jim's family on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 10:30 AM- 12:00 PM in Britton- Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A Memorial service will follow at 12:00 PM in the funeral home. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Springfield Rescue Mission or VascularCures.org.
