Obituary for Gustaf A. Carlson

Gustaf A. Carlson, 94, longtime Auburn resident died Sunday November 27, 2016 in the Life Care Center of Auburn after an illness surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Worcester son of the late Carl H. and Sophia (Wigren) Carlson. He attended Worcester Schools. He served in the United States Army during W.W. II throughout Europe and was captured and was a POW.


Gustaf had worked for Norton Company as a Crane Operator for over 15 years before he retired. He enjoyed several hobbies including boating, fishing, doing yardwork and he was an avid Red Sox follower.

He leaves his loving wife, Alice K. (Jamieson) Carlson; a son, Wayne G. Carlson and his wife Jill of Worcester; a daughter, Barbara A. MacIntosh and her husband Thomas of North Brookfield; three grandchildren, Gregory and Amanda Carlson of Worcester and Corey MacIntosh of North Brookfield; a goddaughter, Sheila Conroy of Auburn; also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Alice O’Connell and Helen Martin and a brother John Carlson

The Carlson family wishes to thank the Auburn Life Care Staff for the compassionate care that was given to Gustaf during his stay.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Gustaf’s family on Thursday December 1, 2016 from 11:00-12:00 Noon in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn followed by a funeral service at 12 NOON in the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, 128 Central St, Auburn.
