Obituary for Gerald E. McDonald

Gerald E. “Jerry” McDonald, 75, of Shrewsbury died Monday, November 28, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born and raised in Worcester son of the late Donald and Mary (DePari) McDonald. Gerald graduated from North High School in 1960 and then entered into the United States Marines where he served on the U.S.S. Boxer during the Cuban Crisis. Later in life Jerry continued his education and graduated from Central New England College in 1986.

Gerald had worked as a Technical Manager for Polaroid Corporation for 30 years before he retired in 1998. Previously he was employed at RCA in the Aerospace Division in Burlington, MA.

He leaves his devoted wife of 47 years, Elizabeth M. (DeAngelis) McDonald; a daughter, Mary Beth (McDonald) Ritkouski of Pepperell, MA; a son, Michael F. McDonald of Shrewsbury; a brother, James K. McDonald and his wife, Paula of Worcester; a niece, Kara McDonald; a nephew, Brent McDonald both of Worcester. He was predeceased by a brother, John A. McDonald.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Gerald’s family on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 10:00-12:00 NOON in the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury followed by a prayer service at 12 NOON. Burial with military honors will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to National Search Dog Foundation, 6800 Wheeler Canyon Rd, Santa Paula, CA 93060.
