Obituary for Marie L. Carpenter (Quist)

Marie L.  Carpenter (Quist)
Marie L. (Quist) Carpenter, 87, of Shrewsbury died Thursday, December 8, 2016 in Knollwood Nursing Center in West Boylston surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Stockholm, Maine, daughter of the late Gustaf H. and Florentine K. (Abrahamson) Quist. She graduated from Jemptland School.

Marie had worked for many years as a baker for the Town of Shrewsbury at Calvin Coolidge School before she retired. Previously she had been employed at Spags in Shrewsbury and Heald Machine in Worcester.

Marie enjoyed berry picking, baking, knitting, spending time in the State of Maine her birthplace, feeding and watching all sorts of birds. She most cherished spending time with her family that meant so much to her…

Her husband of 37 years, David B. Carpenter died in 1996. She leaves her five sons, David M. and his wife Karen, Earl D. and his companion Paula Dowling and triplets, Scott A. and his companion Anita Rosiello, Keith B. and his companion Nancy Sousa and Garry C. and his wife Terri; a sister, Margaret Wardwell, two brothers, Gerald and Floyd Quist; twelve grandchildren; one great grandson and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Carolyn Zeigler.

The family would like to thank the staff at Summit Elder Care and Knollwood Nursing Center and a special thank you to Cathy Healy who took such good care of Marie

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday January 7, 2017 at 11 am in Grace Baptist Church, 10 Stanley Road, SHrewsbury, MA. BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury is honored in assisting the Carpenter family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stockholm Historical Society, P.O. Box 1, Stockholm, Maine 04783.
