Obituary for Shenshen Wu

Shenshen Wu, 73, of Shrewsbury died on Saturday, February 4, 2017 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Tainan County, Taiwan daughter of the late Chin-Ching Lin, the former Ambassador from Taiwan to Japan, and Ai-Kai Wu Lin. Shenshen was educated in Taiwan for her elementary years. She then attended high school in Tokyo, Japan before coming to the United States and attending the University of Rhode Island where she graduated with a B.S. Degree in Chemistry. She then met and married, Chang Ning Wu and had lived happily married for the past 49 years.

Shenshen had worked as a research and analytical chemist at ICI United States, Inc. in Dighton, MA from 1967 until 1970. She then worked from 1977 until 2005 in various capacities in the R & D Department of Titleist Golf Division of Acushnet Company and rose to the position of Project Manager of Polyurethane cover projects. She authored and co-authored more than 100 issued patents. Most notable of these was the innovation that ushered in the 3rd generation of golf ball cover material which brought about the dominance of the Titleist PRO V1. In 2006, Shenshen became a Consultant for the Hanson Group in Georgia in the field of Polyurethanes and Polyureas.

Shenshen enjoyed her working career, but her family was always the center of her life, spending quality time with her grandchildren was essential for her. She also enjoyed gardening and ballroom dancing.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Chang Ning Wu; a loyal son, Michael Wu and his wife Christine of Richmond, Texas; a caring daughter Margaret Saito and her husband Tony of Shrewsbury; four devoted brothers, Wu-Hsien Lin of Stonington, CT, Chris Chih Lung Lin of Rochester, MN, I-Chang Lin of Westboro and Chuan-Fu Lin of Northborough and their kind-hearted and thoughtful spouses; five beloved grandchildren, Brian and Ben Wu of Richmond, Texas and Jason, Darren and Ryan Saito of Shrewsbury; also survived by ten cherished nieces and nephews and their spouses.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mrs. Wu’s family on Saturday February 11, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 PM in the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main St, Shrewsbury. A celebration of Shenshen’s life will begin at 3:30PM. Inurnment will be at a later date in Forest Hill’s Cemetery, Boston.
