Obituary for Archie Blais Jr.

Archie Blais, Jr., 84 of Auburn died Friday May 26, 2017 at home surrounded by family.

Archie was born in Frye, Maine August 9, 1932, one of seven children. His family moved to Worcester, MA in 1942, Archie moved to Auburn in 1952.

Archie was a printing plate maker for Holmes Electrotype in Worcester before opening his own company Advanced Stamp Corp. in Worcester in 1965 in which he operated until his retirement.

His wife of 46 years, Shirley Ann (Perry) passed away in 1997. He leaves behind a daughter, Patricia Stubbert of Bonsall, California, and two sons, Jeffrey Blais and Michael Blais both of Auburn. Six grandchildren, Scott, Michael, Heidi, Michael Jr, Christopher, and Jessica. He also had many great grandchild, nieces and nephews.

Archie was well known as a collector and restorer of antique autos, mostly classics from the 1930’s. He restored over a dozen cars and owned many others. Archie was an enthusiastic supporter of the hobby and one of the founding members of the Central Mass Antique Auto Club. He was generous with his time and efforts to all his friends new and old.

There will be a memorial Mass celebrated on Saturday June 24, 2017 at 12:00pm at Our Lady of the Angels 1222 Main St Worcester, MA followed by a gathering at the Auburn Lodge of Elks 754 Southbridge St Auburn at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association MA 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
