Obituary for James H Dunton

James H. Dunton, 78, of Worcester and recently of Auburn died Sunday in Saint Vincent Hospital after an illness surrounded by his loving family.

James was born in Boston, Massachusetts son of the late Wayne F. and Bessie M. (Robinson) Dunton. He attended Wachusett Regional High School. He entered in the United States Marines where he served honorably until 1963. He later served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard for many years.

His wife Evelyn I. (Gosselin) Dunton died in 2015. He leaves his children, Kathryn E. Farnsworth Dunton of Putnam, CT and her husband Rob, Michael W. Dunton of Southbridge, Phillip E. Ferland of Dudley and his wife Fay and Michelle J. Lowell of Putnam; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.

James worked as a custodial engineer for the City of Worcester in the School Department for many years before he retired in 2002. When James was not working hard for his family he enjoyed being a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He also was once active with the Girl Scouts and Boys Scouts Associations, he was an avid collector of military patches and insignias and he was the family genealogist. With all of his hobbies he most enjoyed being around the grandchildren.

Graveside Services with military honors will be held on Thursday August 24, 2017 at 11:00 am in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street Auburn is directing arrangements for the Dunton family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation in Jim’s memory may be made to The Montachusett Girl Scout Council Gold Star Blvd Worcester, Ma.
