Obituary for Edward L. "Eddie Jr." Sordillo

Mr. Edward “Eddie” L. Sordillo Jr., age 92 passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 18, 2017. He was the husband of the late Frances (Karlhuber) Sordillo with whom he shared 68 years of marriage.

Eddie was born, raised and educated in Brookline, one of four children of Edward L. and Madeline (Glenn) Sordillo.

After attending Brookline High School, Eddie enlisted in the Army and proudly served his country in World War II. Upon his return to the Brookline he began working in mechanical engineering. Over the years he became very skilled and later became a quality assurance inspector. Eddie first met Frances in 1947 and they were married two years later. Together they settled in Allston where they created a home for their family. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing chess, cribbage, and was an avid New England sports franchise fan. Over the years, he remained very active with the American Legion. In his later years he became quite fond of singing and truly enjoyed getting others to sign along with him. He most enjoyed time spent with his family, whether it was time spent watching sports or at a family dinner.

He is survived by his children, Marilynn Mooers of Western Massachusetts, John Sordillo and his wife Donna of Hudson; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents he was predeceased by a daughter Louise Riley Sordillo, and three brothers Joseph, Richard, and Jack Sordillo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Prayer Service for Eddie in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at 11:00 A.M.
