Leonid C. "Chip"  Courcy Jr.
Leonid C. “Chip” Courcy, Jr., 71, lifelong resident of Auburn died Wednesday March 7, 2018 from cancer with his sister by his side.

He was born in Worcester and raised in Auburn, son of the late Leonid C. Courcy, Sr. and Hedwig M. (Czajkowski) Courcy. He graduated from Auburn High School and received his associates degree in engineering from Amherst College.

“Chip” as he was known to his family and friends had worked as a mechanical engineer for many years at Webster Springs and later at Worcester Envelope until he retired. He continued to work part-time as a consultant for several companies in the Worcester area. He loved playing the guitar, harmonica and many other instruments and was in several local bands throughout his life. He played golf, skied, and loved working on cars. Chip was an active member of the Auburn/Webster Lodge of Elks # 2118. He was a loving son, brother and brother-in-law, amazing uncle, cousin and thoughtful and kind individual to anyone who had the honor to know him.

He leaves his sister, Patricia A. (Courcy) Coates and her husband James of Fairfax, Virginia; a nephew, James M. Coates and his wife Shannon of Leesburg, Virginia; two nieces, Kristen Lash and her husband Timothy of Aldi, Virginia and Deanna Coates of Fairfax, Virginia; two great nieces, Sophie and Audrey and a great nephew, Oliver; an aunt, Antoinette Laukaitis of Auburn and many cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Chip’s family on Friday March 16, 2018 from 5-7 pm in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A service honoring his life will begin at 7:00 pm. Burial will be at a later date in Virginia. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
