Obituary for Patricia A Sweeney (Burke)

Patricia  A  Sweeney (Burke)
Patricia A. “Pat” (Burke) Sweeney, 76, of Auburn died Saturday May 19, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late John F. and Viola J. (Lacey) Burke. Patricia graduated from Commerce High School and later married the love of her life Daniel A. Sweeney, Sr., in 1960. After their marriage in 1960, Patricia and her husband moved from Leicester and settled in Auburn in 1962 where they raised their beautiful family.

She was a member of the North American Martyr’s Parish. Patricia had worked many years for State Liquors in Worcester but, her first full time job that she adored was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Patricia enjoyed going to the movies and out to eat with her friend Brian.

She leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Daniel A. Sweeney, Sr.; her children, Kathleen A. Liberty and her husband David of Leicester, Karen M. Blanchette of Greenville, NC, Daniel A. Sweeney, Jr., of Auburn, David A. Sweeney and his wife Ellen of Leicester, Michelle L. Dumas of Leicester and Michael J. Sweeney and his wife Shanon of Oxford; nine grandchildren, David Liberty and his wife Shelby, Matthew Liberty, Richard Dumas, Kristine Zicus, Patrick Sweeney, Tori Blanchette, James Sweeney, Ryan Sweeney and Seamus Sweeney; a great granddaughter Charlotte; also survived are many nieces, nephews, Godchildren, wonderful friends, and her beloved dog Cody. Patricia was predeceased by her four siblings, James, Francis and John Burke and Carol Nault.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Patricia’s family on Wednesday May 23, 2018 from 4-7 PM at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at North American Martyrs’ Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will follow at Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Kateri’s Kitchen C/O North American Martyr’s Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn, MA 01501.
