Obituary for Robert L. Moore

Robert L. Moore, 88 of Auburn died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, June 14, 2018. He was the husband of Jacqueline M. (Desourdis) Moore for 65 years, whom he adored.

Born, raised and educated in Maui, Hawaii, the son of the late Caney D. and Marie (Paresa) Moore, Robert was a 1948 graduate of the Henry Perrine Baldwin High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army to serve his country and proudly defended her during the Korean War. Upon return from active duty, Robert was stationed at Ft. Devens. It was then that he met his bride, Jacqueline. They were married in 1953 and settled in Auburn, where they raised their family. After his discharge, Robert soon settled into his new career as postal carrier and maintained his job until his retirement in 1989. When not at work, Robert enjoyed staying active with his friends at the American Legion, the local VFW and in fact was a member of the local VFW back home in Hawaii. He truly enjoyed time spent with Jacqueline and his children, especially if there were sports involved. He was well known as a true New England Sports fan. He loved watching all sports, something that he himself participated in as a youth and throughout his adult life.

Robert leaves behind, in addition to his wife, his children, Leilani A. Benoit and her husband Kevin of Worcester, Gregory W. Moore and his wife Carol of Leominster, Marilyn L. Perron and her husband Timothy of Leicester, Michael E. Moore and his wife Jennifer of Worcester, eight grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and his dearest and closest friend, Alvin Chee of Maui.

BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME is assisting Robert’s family with his arrangements. Robert’s wishes were for his family to celebrate his life in private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
