Margaret E  Cross-Fisher
Margaret E. “Betty” (Dalton) Cross-Fisher passed peacefully from this earth on June 13, 2018 after a short illness. She was born in Newcastle, New Brunswick, Canada to the late Reginald Dalton and the late Margaret (Jeffrey) Johnson, on November 16, 1927. She graduated from Hawkins High School and attended Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick.

After moving to Massachusetts, she married Roger Cross and they raised six children. They retired to FL and enjoyed eight years until his death in 1996. She found love a second time and married Glenn Fisher of Valrico, who passed away in 2012.

Betty was the founder of the Jack and Jill Preschool in North Oxford and was also a bookkeeper for many years at Cross Dodge in Auburn, and the Ziff Paper Company in Worcester. After moving to Florida, she was a bookkeeper for the Montgomery Tank Lines in Plant City, and a tax consultant for H.R. Block.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Oxford and also the Fellowship Baptist Church in Valrico, FL. She was an accomplished church organist and choir director serving at various churches in her lifetime, she loved spending time with her family, enjoyed her church involvement and the many friendships she treasured. She spent many hours playing bridge, playing the piano and creating beautiful paintings. Her buoyant spirit and her appreciation for beauty in other people and in her surroundings is what we will remember most.

Betty is survived by her six children, Charles Cross and his companion, Joan D’Agostino of St. Petersburg, FL and his children Amy, Holly, Suzanne, Tommy and Ricky; Carla Morano and her husband Rocco of Auburn and her sons Jayson, Justin and Jonathan; Cathy (Cris) Pletan-Cross and her husband Punky of Kailua, HI; Tony Cross and his wife Melissa of Lander, WY and her son Zach; Candy Lirange and her husband Paul of Auburn and their children Amanda, Michael, Derek and Gina; Carrie Cross-Tiraboschi and her husband Lester of Auburn and her son Kyle; and also Glenn’s son, Glenn, Jr. and his wife Rita. She had seven great-grandchildren, Victoria, Gianna, Angelina, Jon, Kaitlyn, Dorian and Arya; two sisters, Gale Dalton of Nanaimo, B.C. and Cheryl Yachyshyn of Sudbury, ON. She was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Cara Cross and a daughter-in-law Lynne Cross.

Following services in Valrico, FL, she will return home to Auburn where calling hours will be held at Britton-Wallace Funeral Home in Auburn on Friday, July 6 from 4-7pm. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 7 th at 9:30 am at the First Baptist Church, 693 Main St, North Oxford, MA, followed by burial in the Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
