Obituary for Bartholomew P "Bart" Gunderman Sr.

Bartholomew P "Bart" Gunderman Sr.
Bartholomew Peter Gunderman, Sr. was born in Worcester, and lived a long and full life. His life’s mission came to an end on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2018, at Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, MA.

He was predeceased by his beloved and devoted wife, Patricia, whom he missed desperately for ten years, and his son Steven, who had passed first earlier this year. Bart also leaves behind three groovy sisters and one outgoing brother who have always been there for him. (Thanks again for the delicious chicken pot pie and the outrageously good Boston Cream Pie). Bart found happiness through the numerous and energetic grandchildren and great grandchildren; Just last week he was laughing as they swarmed his house, and together watched a private viewing of the epic film (The Strong). We will long remember his last shout," Shut up! I'm trying to watch the movie!".

Bart worked hard for many years as an autobody mechanic and painter, doing body work on more cars than you can imagine. Bart attended Auburn High School where he played on the football team. He served in the U.S. Army as a Radio Operator from 1952 to 1954. Continuing his education years later, he proudly received his GED.

Throughout his rich life, he found time to watch, play, and coach baseball (Go Red Sox!), work for the Catholic Diocese of Saint Paul's and as a Boy Scout Troop 100 Leader for years. During his senior years, he could often be found sitting at the computer playing solitaire or cruising the world on his flight simulator. He both loved and hated the new technology. Bart was an amazing man; a devoted and faithful husband, endless provider and caring father. He loved his family, Jesus and Jack Daniels neat (not necessarily in that order).

Bart is survived by many of his family, who were his foremost pride and joy and his main source of entertainment. He will be truly missed by his children; John and his wife Kathy of East Bridgewater, Bartholomew Jr. of Worcester, Theresa (Gunderman) Boudreau of Worcester, Christopher and wife Kazuki of Boston, and Timothy and wife Sandi of Sturbridge.

Relative and friends are invited to visit with Bart’s family on Monday August 27, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 pm in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central St, Auburn. His funeral will be on Tuesday August 28, 2018 with a funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
