Patricia A. Dumphy (Gannon), of Shrewsbury passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving children.

She was born and raised in Worcester daughter of the late John and Mary Lucile (Cusick)Gannon. She graduated from Saint Stephen’s High School.
She later continued her education at Worcester State College receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

While studying at Worcester State College, Patricia met Ralph E. Dumphy whom she married on July 4, 1956 in Saint Margaret Mary’s Church in Worcester. They celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage before Ralph passed in 2016.

Patricia was an educator most of her life and enjoyed being a teacher with the Shrewsbury School System, Saint Mary’s School of Shrewsbury, and the Worcester Adult Learning Center until she retired. Patricia loved to paint and pursued that hobby well into her retirement years. Patricia was also an Associate of the Sisters of Notre Dame for 35 years, and strived to live her life in the manner of St. Julie Billiart, who proclaimed God’s goodness throughout her entire life. Most of all, Patricia cherished the time spent with her family and she found tremendous joy in her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Patricia leaves her loving children, Mary L. Naples and her husband John of Kennebunk, Maine, Ralph J. Dumphy and his wife, Elaine of Nashville, TN, Anne Marie Hayes and her husband Michael of Belmar, NJ and Patricia E. MacIsaac and her husband Andrew of Shrewsbury; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Naples Walsh and her husband Andrew of Holden, Christopher Naples and his wife Megan of Worcester, Matthew Naples and his wife, Caitlin of Boxborough, MA Caitlyn Dumphy Bullock and her husband Captain Eric Bullock of Nashville, TN, Katharine Hayes Hoffman and her husband Timothy of Villanova, PA, Michael E. Hayes, Jr., and his wife Ryan Clarke Hayes of NYC, Erin Hayes Vickers and her husband Andrew of Red Bank, NJ, Shannon Hayes and her husband Jonathan Phlug of Jersey City, NJ, and Jake A. MacIsaac of Shrewsbury; eleven great grandchildren, Grace, Daniel, Lillian, Ryan, Patrick, Gianna, Reese, Adelaine, James, Isla and Caleb. Patricia is also survived by her sister, MaryLou Farrell of Allentown, PA and two brothers, John Gannon and his wife Jean of Douglas, MA and Thomas Gannon and his wife Mary Ellen of Goodyear, AZ and several nieces and nephews.

The Dumphy family wishes to extend their gratitude to the entire staff of Overlook VNA, Notre Dame Hospice Care, and Family Tree Home Care for their compassionate care of Patricia and her family during her illness.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Patricia’s family on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 3:00-7:00 PM in the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. The funeral will be on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from the funeral home with her funeral Mass celebrated at 10:00am in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Sisters of Notre Dame,30 Jeffreys Neck Road, Ipswich, MA 01938.
