Obituary for Gloria B Marois (Robidoux)

Gloria B. (Robidoux) Marois, 83, of Shrewsbury formerly of Auburn and Sutton, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 26, 2018 with her loving family by her side.

Gloria was born in Southbridge, daughter of the late Roland and Emma (Blais) Robidoux. She graduated from Southbridge High School and later attended Becker Jr. College.

She married Normand R. Marois on October 26, 1957 in Notre Dame Church in Southbridge and they have enjoyed a wonderful 61 years together as husband and wife. They settled in Auburn where they raised their five children before moving to Sutton for a number of years eventually moving to the Southgate Community in 2017.

Gloria enjoyed the company of her family most of all. From hosting parties and gatherings to attending sporting events of her children and grandchildren she was always present offering support and encouragement. She particularly enjoyed playing tennis and instilled in her family a competitive spirit which carries forth to this day. Her interest in tennis lead her to become the Auburn High School women’s tennis coach for a time once her children had grown. She was a devoted member of North American Martyrs Parish while living in Auburn and St. Mark’s Parish while in Sutton. She enjoyed summers on Lake Lashaway and after moving from Auburn, resided on Lake Singletary in Sutton. Her generosity along with that of her husband, Normand, can be seen in numerous locations around the greater Worcester area most particularly at Assumption College, his alma mater, where they were generous donors. Gloria touched all she met with her grace, quiet confidence and genuine personality. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She leaves her loving husband Normand R. Marois of Shrewsbury, her five children, Nancy A. Winn and her husband David of Sutton, Jeffrey N. Marois of Millbury, Barbara J. Marois and her partner Terri Nelson of Dover, New Hampshire, Ralph D. Marois and his wife Denise of Auburn and David A. Marois and his wife Pamela of Sutton; 14 grandchildren, Sarah Luong and her husband Bo, Tim and Julie Winn; Jakob, Justin and Jillian Marois, Kylie and Zachary Nelson-Marois, Erica Mulryan and her husband John, Adrienne Nickerson and her husband Bill, Nicholas Marois and his wife Molly, Alexandra, Matthew and Elizabeth Marois; also survived by six great grandchildren Cooper, Cody, Callen, Colton, Scarlett and Emma along with many nieces and nephews; two brothers, Richard Robidoux and his wife Phyllis of East Brookfield, and Theodore Robidoux and a sister in law, Madeline Robidoux of Sturbridge. She was predeceased by a brother, Roger Robidoux.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass celebrating Gloria’s life on Saturday December 1, 2018 at 11:00 am in the North American Martyr’s Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn, immediately followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.
