Obituary for Genevieve H "Jean" Pandolfi (Valentine)

Genevieve H "Jean" Pandolfi (Valentine)
Genevieve H. “Jean” (Valentine) Pandolfi, 98, of Shrewsbury formerly of Staten Island, New York, died Tuesday December 11, 2018 in the presence of her loving family.

Genevieve, lovingly know to family and friends by her middle name, Jean was born in Flemington, New Jersey daughter of the late Patrick and Helen Valentine. She was raised and educated in Staten Island graduating from Curtis High School. Jean was employed for a short time in a wallet factory in New York where she met her lifelong love, Vito Pandolfi.
On May 17, 1941 she married Vito in Saint Rita’s Roman Catholic Church in Staten Island. Together Vito and Jean raised four children and resided in Staten Island where Jean happily maintained the family home and was a stay at home mother. Vito and Jean enjoyed a wonderful loving marriage for 46 years before Vito passed in 1987. In 1994, Jean moved to Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.

Regardless of what Jean was involved with she did it tirelessly and out of love. A devout Catholic, Jean was an active member and CCD teacher at St. Rita’s Parish in New York and when she moved to Massachusetts, she became a parishioner of Saint Mary’s Parish Shrewsbury. Jean attended daily Mass, praying the rosary with her dear friends, where she lovingly volunteered her attention to the linens for the alters. Jean was also a professed member of the Third Order of St. Dominic. She enjoyed cooking and sewing but most importantly she lived a wonderful life and she loved her family more than anything.

In heaven Jean joins her husband, Vito, her parents, Patrick and Helen and her brother, Daniel Valentine. She will be missed dearly by her children, Marylou Jordan and her husband William of Staten Island, NY, Joseph Pandolfi and his wife Ursula of Maggie Valley, North Carolina, Ellen Tulli and her husband Alexander of Hillsborough, New Jersey and Jeanne Vaccaro and her husband Frank of Shrewsbury; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Shrewsbury Nursing Home, JHC Hospice and Family Tree Home care for providing loving caregivers. A special thanks to Kathy and Kellie for their unconditional care and love over the past four years.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass celebrating Jean’s life on Friday December 14, 2018 at 11:00am at Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury (Please kindly go directly to church). She will be buried on Saturday December 15th next to her husband in Saint Peter’s Cemetery, Staten Island, New York. Memorial contributions in Jean’s name can be made to: St Mary’s Capital Campaign, 20 Summer Street Shrewsbury Ma 01545.
