Obituary for Ruth D Strozina (Bottom)
Ruth D. (Bottom) Strozina, 90, of Auburn died peacefully in the comfort of her home on Sunday February 17, 2019.
Ruth was born and raised in Worcester daughter of the late Frank H. and Evelyn (Wing) Bottom and graduated from Worcester Girls Trade School. Ruth then met the “Love of her Life” Richard T. Strozina and they married in 1947. Together they began a 64-year life of family and devotion raising their children and living in the Auburn community. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother; above all she loved being the Matriarch of the Strozina family.
When her children where grown, Ruth returned into the work force and worked in the retail sales at the Auburn Mall until she retired. During their retirement, Ruth and Richard traveled frequently and enjoyed quality time spent on Cape Cod with family. They also lived in Florida and Texas before moving back to Auburn to be close to family before Richard passed in 2011.
For the past few years Ruth enjoyed living in the Kateri Tekakwitha Senior Apartments where she appreciated spending time with her friends playing cards, doing her word search puzzles and then enjoying the end of the week for “Sunday Dinners” with her family.
Ruth is survived by her three children, Paul R. Strozina and his wife Susan of Auburn, Beverly R. Johnson and her husband Jay of Auburn and Susan M. Paquette and her husband Michael of Prescott, Arizona; a sister, Anne Kirby of Auburn; seven grandchildren, Amy Berg, Sarah Strozina, Kristin Salvatore, Heidi Brothers, Andrew Paquette, Katelyn Paquette and Richard Strozina; also survived by seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Ruth was predeceased by a son Richard R. Strozina, and three brothers, Frank, Jr., Lawrence and William Bottom.
Ruth’s family would like to express their gratitude to Sherri and Maria of Comfort Zone for all of their loving care given to Ruth.
Calling hours for Ruth will be on Thursday Feb 21,2019 from 5-8 pm in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central St, Auburn. Her funeral will be on Friday Feb. 22, 2019 with a funeral Mass celebrated at 10:00 am at North American Martyr’s Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Flowers may be sent or donation may be sent to Comfort Zone, P.O. Box 673, Hudson, MA 01749.
